Sam and Cat's Bargain Hunt Adventure
When we got the opportunity to go on Bargain Hunt we were SO excited. Of all the day time TV shows, Bargain Hunt has to be THE most legendary. Our parents absolutely adore the show. It’s a show loved by all generations, even if the ‘cool kids’ don’t admit it.
Filming the show was just SO much fun. First of all, Sam and I were delighted at the fact that we were designated with the blue fleeces. A trivial part of the filming experience some may assume, but it was definitely our preferred colour (it didn’t clash with the slight ginger hue in our hair at the time of filming)! We also got to keep the fleeces after as reminders of our amazing experience.
The next big step was finding out who was to be our expert. We waited eagerly in the green room for all to be revealed, and were thrilled to find out that the legendary David Harper was to be guiding us in our purchases. David was so lovely, such a genuine man and we got on so well with him that he befriended us on Facebook after filming!
It would be remiss not to mention another legend of the show. Presenter and general funny man Tim Wonnacott of course. He, too, was lovely. Tim turned up for filming in the most elaborate spectacles and tie combination imaginable, and was as vibrant in character as he was in dress sense.
We then met the opposition. Brothers and ex-school teachers Tim and Rick; otherwise known as ‘the menacing red team’. Although we were competing against the duo, as Bargain Hunt is essentially a game show, Tim and Rick were so lovely, just like everyone involved in the show, and we keep in contact with them also.
We were then given our sum of cash (£300) and set free to purchase whatever we desired! There were so many items to choose from and, with the time constraint (one hour to find three purchases), it has to be stressed that any tactics you may intend to implement in order to make a profit - they go straight out the window! Having chosen our three items, they were then sold at auction and, whilst I do not wish to give away what we bought, it has to be mentioned that the items provoked laughter from the potential purchasers in the auction house! Overall, we really did have a fabulous time, and met some brilliant people along the way - our journey has even been followed by a couple of the local papers:
